IN LOVING MEMORY OF DAWN FOSS
In an effort to share memories with all the people who loved and cared for Dawn, this website is now home to some things that meant a lot to her: music of all kinds, the ability to share her knowledge, experience, and journey with anyone it could help, poems she surrounded herself by that shaped her mindset and outlook, and photos of her life.
Music was incredibly important to Dawn ever since she was young and begged her parents for piano lessons. She went on to not only play the piano, but also violin, viola, organ, ukulele, and guitar. She could even play the spoons! She had eclectic musical taste, her piano was her most prized possession, and she could almost constantly be found humming as she went about her day. Below is a playlist of some of her favorite songs, especially ones she enjoyed most over the past few years. Feel free to save the playlist and enjoy any time!

Throughout her life, Dawn found great meaning in being able to help people however she could, whether that was through being a loving wife and parent, the absolute best Mimi to her grandsons, a thoughtful, personal tutor, or a loyal friend. During her cancer journey, she wanted to do the same: to help others by sharing her experiences and wisdom, to show that the end of life can be peaceful and meaningful.
In 2023, Dawn recorded her thoughts about life and living with a cancer diagnosis for the Smith Center for the Arts in DC, in an effort to share that journey with even more people. A shortened version of that interview is below.

Dawn was always an avid reader, often stating that books and music helped save her life. There were a few poems and stories that she surrounded herself with over the past few years, pinning them up where she worked, carrying them around on a clipboard, and in the case of the metta prayer, she’d been wearing it on her wrist as a bracelet for at least a decade. A few of her favorites are here to share.
If you’d like to make a donation in her memory, Dawn selected two organizations that reflected important values in her life: feeding others, and the power of reading.
